NJPW star talks being ‘open’ to working with AEW for singles run

New Japan Pro Wrestling star Tama Tonga recently appeared on the Chris Van Vliet podcast. The Bullet Club stable member discussed a number of topics from his career, including a potential run with All Elite Wrestling.

“I don’t want to say no to anything because you just never know, and I’m always open to ideas. I’m open to anything and, you know, money talks, baby! Money talks! Money does all the talking right now, so, AEW wants to move that route? Show me the money!”

Tama Tonga also discussed his new run as a singles competitor in NJPW, saying that his goal is the IWGP Heavyweight Championship.

“There’s only one goal and I think it should be everybody’s goal. If you’re going to be a singles competitor, it’s to be the IWGP Heavyweight Champion. Anything is s–t – if you’re not first, you’re last. That’s it. Y’all can keep your Intercontinental, y’all can keep your U.S title, ya’ll can keep your NEVER [Openweight Champinship]. I’ll never be that because I don’t want to be a fu–ing NEVER champion. Keep all that s–t, and I think if you want to be the man, you got to be the man. And the man is to be the IWGP Heavyweight Champion.”
